My Photography

I fell in love with photography while working as a newspaper reporter.  My “beat” was a bit off the beaten path and the paper did not always send one of the staff photographers out to cover my stories.  Instead, they gave me a 35 mm Canon Rebel EOS, no training, and let me loose.

With no experience in photography, at first I dreaded shooting my own stories.  But I quickly became enamored by it.  I found photography to be a great complement to my writing.

Over the years my passion for photography has grown.  While I am no longer a reporter I always carry a camera with me. I currently shoot with a Canon 50D - digital of course!  I’m not into heavy editing – what I saw through my lens is what you see through my photo.

I have had some moderate success with my work – two of my shots appeared in the Democrat & Chronicle’s coffee table book Capture Rochester 2008.  I also had a photo of my son Brice published in “Parents Magazine.”

While writing is a passion I was born with, photography is a passion that has evolved – both types of passion are equally exciting.
